I am from Minnesota and grew up running and playing ice hockey. In high school, I got the outdoor bug while canoeing through the BWCAW and miss being able to do that. Backpacking, climbing, and canyoneering have helped fill that void. I moved to Arizona in August 2014, but it wasn’t until April 2019 that I began technical canyoneering. Shortly after I began, I was able to join a group doing The Subway and have spent most weekends exploring canyons in the southwest since. The beauty of these canyons and the challenges they can present are a big part of the reason I love this sport. I find it difficult now to leave the rope behind on any trip I take.
